About Randell & Schippers PDF Print E-mail

The performing and songwriting duo of Randell & Schippers is the name under which writer/artist/producers Denny Randell and Biddy Schippers create their musical fantasies together, and “Alice In Wonderland”, their national dance charter and Top 10 Yahoo video hit, featuring the song, story and characters they created and perform, is their latest joint happening.

Denny and Biddy originally connected in L.A. through a mutual music publishing contact. At that time, two years into her L.A. experience, Biddy had already written several songs that were hits in Europe and Japan and Denny was a 20+ year veteran on the pop music scene, having amassed major success as a composer of top hits such as “A Lover’s Concerto,” now a worldwide standard, and numerous smashes for Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons including “Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got),” “Opus 17” and “Working My Way Back To You” (also a hit for the Spinners). These 3 songs are now featured on Broadway in the Tony award winning show “Jersey Boys” and its Grammy award winning album. Other Randell penned classics include “Swearin’ To God”, “Native New Yorker”, “Pass the Courvoisier” (co-written with P. Diddy and others) and the Smash Mouth hit “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby”. Randell has also produced and arranged many hits and has been an A & R director/producer for several major labels.

While continuing to write for and produce other artists, R & S soon found their own planet as recording artists. Denny was a seasoned performer, while Biddy had solely focused on writing, but that changed as well. “Denny loved my voice,” she remembers. “He said, ‘I think you have a hit sound. I think we should make a record and put it out.’” Denny’s prediction proved correct..

From their very first release “Let’s Go For It” on their own Ear Candy Label, quickly re-released by CBS, their sound triumphed in the U.S and then on both sides of the Atlantic with their 90’s hit “Love Jam”, called “Quite simply, a modern masterpiece” by the U.K.’s Blues & Soul Magazine. Mark Deming of allmusic.com recently referred to these and their current ‘Alice In Wonderland’ as “club staples”

After selling Ear Candy in the early '90s to a group including BMG Records, Denny and Biddy launched Music Avenue Records/DRC Entertainment, which has been home since then to Randell & Schippers and their other distinctive productions. Since the release of their original version of "Alice In Wonderland", it has continued to break through in ever widening formats as their girl Alice forges ahead on her adventures in the "Big City" - although always in Wonderland.

Currently, R & S are working on several new projects, including new Randell & Schippers recordings  and productions with their Billboard and DJ Times charted vocal group Soul Tempo (most recently hot with the duo’s song and production of “All The King’s Horses” on their Music Avenue label).  And with work on their show for musical theatre and their own live show also in progress, the pair is deep in their groove as both musical artists and music biz entrepreneurs and owners of their company DRC Entertainment. So stay tuned for more Randell & Schippers creations, surely coming soon.
